A required course for minor children whose parents are
divorcing.
Currently classes are only available in
Lee county.
The
Sandcastles™ Program is a group style program for children of ages 6 to
17 aims at helping them cope with divorce or separation through
sharing and listening to other children in their age group.
Age appropriate groups help children see that they are not alone
and that their thoughts and feelings are similar to many others
who are experiencing divorce. Leaders are trained to facilitate
innovative group activities that help the children discuss and
focus on their feelings.
Sandcastles has helped more than 35,000 children to cope with
the experiences and emotional trauma they may deal with during
and after their parents’ divorce. The program has achieved
international acclaim as featured in various magazines including
People, Time, Parents and newspapers including the Washington
Post, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, and Miami Herald.
Sandcastles has also been featured on television including Oprah
and Today shows.
Sandcastles will help children with issues including the
following: Commonality of divorce, discussing divorce,
recognizing emotions, communication, future concerns, different
family structures and individual questions.
